David Bailey furniture online helps design and entertain

Leading UK fitted furniture manufacturer and supplier to the healthcare market David Bailey Furniture Systems has been awarded the contract to provide furniture for the refurbishment of Hackney Hospital, London. The order includes 20 sets of bedroom furniture finished in veneer ash, bespoke units to house televisions, plasma screens and equipment, as well as desks, and fully fitted furniture for the pantry, laundry and utility room areas.

As it is a mental health unit, special attention has been paid to the furniture specification to ensure patient safety. The project architect Nightingale Associates specified David Bailey's HTM 63 and Healthline ranges. The furniture designs feature smooth lines and handle cutouts within drawer units, eliminating sharp corners and protruding knobs or handles, while all wardrobe doors have piano hinges, and shelving has been incorporated rather than hanging rails.

Consideration has also been given to colour, texture and light to help achieve contrast that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but beneficial for people with visual impairments and elderly people. Martin James Medical, appointed as main contractor, was responsible for placing the order. Andy Bertram, purchasing manager at Martin James Medical, said: “The furniture for this refurbishment has to be sympathetic to the end use and David Bailey's Healthline and HTM 63 ranges include elements, such as the handle cut-outs, adjustable shelves, lockable cupboards and collapsible hanging rails.”

Tailored to the needs of the hospital and healthcare sector, the David Bailey Furniture Healthline range is firmly established as the market-leading brand.
